Styrians deliver Covid-19 antigen tests worth millions

The innovative company Technomed GmbH was awarded the contract to supply COVID-19 rapid antigen tests worth millions to EU countries!

Since the beginning of the corona crisis, the Graz-based company has developed into one of the most important importers and suppliers of professional-use COVID-19 rapid antigen tests, building on more than 40 years of industry experience as a distributor of medical devices.
Its position as one of the most important suppliers of rapid tests for the public sector in Germany and Austria led to an invitation from the European Commission (Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety) to participate in a tender for the high-volume supply of rapid antigen tests.

Together with 4 other providers, Technomed GmbH was awarded the framework contract for the supply of 182 million professional-use COVID-19 rapid antigen tests with a total contract value of €582.4 million. This framework contract now offers EU member states the opportunity to order these COVID rapid tests at the agreed price within one year from the 5 companies – including Technomed GmbH – and thus call off the contingent.

“Good advice was hard to come by” – the Enterprise Europe Network advises you free of charge

As the European Commission’s largest decentralized network, the Enterprise Europe Network provides small and medium-sized enterprises from all over Europe with advice and practical support. For example, the Graz-based company Technomed GmbH approached the Enterprise Europe Network office of the ICS with a request for support regarding a currently open EU tender. In order to participate as successfully as possible in the specific tender for the framework contract for the supply of COVID rapid tests, meeting all required formal criteria, Technomed required external professional support.

In an initial meeting with Ms. Ahlgrimm-Siess, the first issues were discussed and specific tender documents were submitted for review. Subsequently, Enterprise Europe Network Munich was also involved in the consulting process; as part of the EEN thematic group “Public Procurement,” they have experience in the field of EU tenders and were able to provide valuable input for a concrete solution.

With the help of Mag. Christoph Huter, an expert in the field of EU tenders at the Enterprise Europe Network of the WKO – Austrian Federal Economic Chamber, all further complex detailed questions were successfully clarified over several intensive weeks to the full satisfaction of the Graz-based company, and the contract was ultimately won.

“I would like to thank the Enterprise Europe Network team for their excellent and integrated support. Together, we navigated the ups and downs of EU procurement guidelines, and my team and I were glad to find professional support here.”

Moritz Bubik, CEO of Technomed GmbH

A success for the company is a success for the ICS & the Enterprise Europe Network

In summary, it can be stated that the forwarding of the company’s request to the individual actors in the sense of the “Enterprise Europe Network – Hub and Spoke Model” proceeded to the full satisfaction of the company.
