Styrian company revolutionises the metal recycling market in Germany

Schrott24 is revolutionising the metal recycling market in Germany through greater transparency, digitalisation & efficiency

The innovative Styrian company Schrott24 is now one of the largest digital trading platforms for scrap metal, enabling the matching of supply and demand for scrap metals.

Founded in 2016, the platform now includes more than 400 logistics and recycling partners across Europe, as well as over 80 scrap metal drop-off points in Austria and Germany.

By working with scrap dealers, recyclers and smelters, Schrott24 helps increase metal recycling rates across Europe. In addition, recycling scrap metal helps replace primary raw materials and reduce the associated high energy consumption and CO2 emissions.

For the company, which is well established in Austria, expanding the market in Germany was a logical step and was implemented quickly and without bureaucracy with the support of the Enabling!Export funding programme.

Based on its success to date, the company intends to enter and develop additional European target markets in the future, revolutionise the scrap market through even more efficient technological processes, and create a sustainable future.

“With the funding, we were able to realign our sales structures from the ground up, and we now have a very strong technical as well as organisational and personnel foundation, which will enable us to grow much more strongly in the German market and also enter additional markets,” explains Jan Pannenbäcker, Managing Director and Co-founder of Schrott24.”
