Strengthening the export capability of Styrian companies across all sectors—an effort that needs to be pursued with renewed vigor following the Covid-19 pandemic—was declared a top priority of the ICS.
Against this backdrop, the Restart Export project was launched in April 2021 with a total project volume of around €1.9 million.
220 Styrian companies received targeted support through the project’s measures in three key areas:
- Successful international market entry and/or expansion: One consequence of the pandemic was that existing export markets collapsed, and efforts to develop new markets were severely restricted. Companies therefore received targeted support in (re-)entering new or existing markets.
- Building and expanding digitalization processes in export market development: The Covid-19 pandemic highlighted the immense importance of digitalization across many areas and created new dynamics, particularly in international business. In reaching out to (potential) customers and in internal export processing, physical contact increasingly needs to be replaced by digital solutions. The goal was to help companies manage international market development remotely, optimize these processes, and secure customer loyalty through digital tools.
- Building and optimizing an efficient, resilient international supply chain: One of the key lessons learned from the crisis was that efficient supply chain management and handling a fine-meshed supply network are crucial to sustainable international export success. The need for support in supply chain management was diverse, including the search for suitable new sourcing and sales markets as well as the introduction of digital solutions—closely linking it to the project’s other two focus areas.
