Judenburg-based company becomes hygiene expert

What do hospitals, laboratories, veterinary facilities and research institutes have in common? All of these facilities generate waste that can be hazardous and infectious. For over 30 years, the Upper Styrian family business Meteka GmbH has been ensuring the proper disinfection of such waste with hygienic system solutions, and has made a name for itself with waste decontamination equipment and a range of hygiene solutions.

Hygiene takes top priority

To dispose of waste, Meteka GmbH has developed its own hygiene and infection prevention system. “This allows the waste to be treated on-site before disposal takes place,” explains managing director Roland Katschnig. The waste is collected in a dedicated collection and transport container. “This helps prevent the spread of infections, which is essential, for example, in hospital settings.”

Hygiene is a top priority these days – and not just in times like these. That’s why the company’s product line is being expanded to include items such as room and surface disinfection devices and disinfectant dispensers.

Searching for export markets

Meteka has a very strong presence in its home market of Austria, “but we are now active in more than 30 countries worldwide,” reports Katschnig.

Through the “Export Know-How” project run by the Styrian Internationalisation Center (ICS), the company is also currently exploring which additional export markets might be worth considering in the future. “Besides selecting the right export market, our primary goal is to find reliable local sales and service partners.
