The Styrian EXPORT DAY 2024

Tuesday, November 5, 2024

The Styrian EXPORT DAY 2024 focused on the development and future of Eastern Europe. Entrepreneurs, experts, and trade delegates gathered in the Europasaal of the Styrian Chamber of Commerce to discuss new approaches to geopolitical challenges and explore business opportunities in the CEE region (Central and Eastern Europe). The focus was on the dynamic development and potential future scenarios of these regions, which are considered economically interesting but geopolitically challenging partners for the Styrian economy.

Around 170 participants listened intently to ORF correspondent Christian Wehrschütz, who embellished his keynote from a geopolitical perspective with exciting anecdotes from his decades of work in the region. RBI Chief Economist Gunter Deuber analyzed the economic dynamics of the Western Balkans, which, with a 4.4% share for Austrian companies, is a highly relevant export market. In the subsequent talk, Saubermacher CEO Ralf Mittermayr summarized the game-changer in the Western Balkans for the company as follows: “We had to abandon our thinking of >West blesses East<.”
Everyone agreed on one thing: Eastern Europe is and remains a region with challenges, but also full of potential – perfect for Styrian companies looking to open up new markets.

In 90 1:1 meetings with 12 trade delegates from the Eastern European region, entrepreneurs were able to specifically address their concerns and questions and establish contacts for future collaborations.
