Saudi Arabia is currently one of the most exciting growth markets worldwide—and this very momentum was at the heart of our fireside chat at the ICS. In a small group, experts and company representatives discussed current developments, strategic perspectives and concrete market-entry options.
The content-related opening was delivered by Margarete Schramböck, former Federal Minister, with a clear assessment: Despite geopolitical tensions, Saudi Arabia remains a highly attractive market for the future. The consistent diversification of the economy under Vision 2030 is creating new structures, opening markets and offering international companies a wide range of opportunities—particularly in industry and technology.
Vision 2030: Investments are driving demand
The discussion focused on the Kingdom’s large-scale transformation projects. Massive investments in infrastructure, energy, industry and logistics are reshaping the economic landscape at a rapid pace. At the same time, new opportunities are emerging in areas such as digitalisation, sustainable technologies and innovative services. For Styrian companies, this development is particularly relevant: Demand for technological solutions, know-how and international partners is growing—especially in those sectors in which Styria has traditionally been strong.
Together with Thomas Scheucher (AVL), concrete practical experience was contributed. Among other topics, the discussion covered success factors for market entry, the importance of local partnerships and the challenges of day-to-day operations.
Moderated by Karl Hartleb (ICS), an open exchange developed that made one thing clear: To succeed in Saudi Arabia, in addition to a clear strategic approach, you above all need an understanding of local structures, a long-term perspective and reliable partners on the ground.
