Recap: Successfully Participating in UN Tenders

Yes, we did it again! United Nations Representatives Visit Vienna

With an annual procurement volume of USD 24.9 billion, the United Nations offers enormous market opportunities. In 2023 alone, 1,600 Austrian companies secured contracts worth USD 310 million. Particularly attractive: the proximity to UNO City Vienna, where UNIDO, for example, procures directly for local construction and infrastructure projects.

Given this potential, AUSSENWIRTSCHAFT AUSTRIA and ICS have, for the third time, invited procurement managers from five renowned UN organizations to Vienna to give Austrian companies the opportunity to present their products and services directly – with great success.

The event provided the approximately 100 participants with important insights into the UN’s procurement processes. Over 60 individual meetings led to concrete connections, and numerous companies took the opportunity to register directly with UNGM, the official UN procurement platform.

“The event was extremely positive for me, and the interesting content was presented with great enthusiasm. Overall, a very well-organized event with 1:1 appointments with UN representatives, which I am happy to take on as a new area of interest.”

Robert Peinhaupt, CEO of SESCO Marketing & Sales GmbH

The high-profile speakers from UNHCR, UNIDO, UNOV, CTBTO and UNOPS/UNGM explained procurement needs and shared practical experience reports. The contributions from Katharina Heil, Sandra Slavinec and Thomas Steinocher were particularly insightful. Special thanks go to Envoy Georg Oberreiter for the inspiring words from the perspective of the Austrian Embassy to the United Nations.

A strong signal for the international competitiveness of Austrian companies.
