Recap: REUSE2030 Workshop Rethink. Reuse. Revolution.

Circular economy – vision of tomorrow or already lived reality?

This guiding question was at the heart of the REUSE2030 workshop “Rethink. Reuse. Revolution.”, held at the end of September as part of the International Forum Mechatronics 2025 in Graz. Together with the participants, Leonarda Bregovic and Ioana Mihoc discussed opportunities, challenges, and concrete pathways for turning a circular economy into reality.

The event focused on the transformation from linear value chains to a closed-loop system. In their keynotes, Zoltan Toronyi and Thomas Deutsch impressively demonstrated that sustainable solutions are not merely theoretical visions of the future, but are already being implemented step by step in practice.

“Circular economy is a reality today – and a necessity tomorrow. The future is built where sustainability is not just discussed, but consistently put into practice,” emphasized Daniela Guß, project manager for REUSE2030 at ICS.

Following the workshop, the project partners came together as part of the REUSE2030 meeting to define the next implementation steps. A key element is the upcoming testing phase for digital tools, which is considered an important building block for the concrete implementation of the circular economy.

With this, the forum sent a strong signal: the circular economy has long since become more than just a buzzword – it is developing into a firm part of economic reality and opening up new opportunities for businesses to build a sustainable future.
