Around 70 representatives from Türkiye, Latin America and Styria met in Graz at the end of April to exchange views on current developments, technologies and cooperation potential in sustainable timber construction. Following “Build’n Green 2026”, the international delegation once again made Styria a meeting place for future-oriented building.
The event opened with a welcome address by ICS Managing Director Karl Hartleb, followed by insights from Holzcluster Steiermark with Managing Director Alexander Pinter and Visnja Kosac (International). Moderated by Michaela Ahlgrimm-Siess (ICS), the programme provided a concise overview of the participating delegations: the Austrian Trade Centres from Chile, Uruguay, Argentina and Türkiye presented their respective markets and participants, before Styrian companies also introduced their expertise and cooperation interests.
The focus then shifted to direct exchange: in an interactive World Café, participants discussed key questions at themed tables along the timber construction value chain—from sustainable materials and innovative construction methods to international market opportunities. This format enabled targeted B2B discussions and generated concrete starting points for future cooperation. Company visits were even planned and carried out for the following day.
During the subsequent networking, discussions were deepened and initial contacts further developed. International interest in Styrian timber construction expertise is high, and there are tangible opportunities for joint projects and market development in Türkiye and Latin America.
Special thanks go to all contributors and partners who made this event possible—especially Holzcluster Steiermark, the participating Austrian Trade Centres, as well as all international delegation participants and Styrian companies.
