At the WKO Styria Sustainability Day, it became clear: sustainability is no longer an option, but a prerequisite for future-proof business practices.
WKO President Josef Herk stated clearly: “Sustainability is no longer just a buzzword, but an operational necessity.”
Studies show: the costs of inaction are many times higher than investments in green solutions.
In addition to risks, the focus was primarily on the potential for companies: competitive advantages, new revenue streams, and access to funding make sustainable strategies economically attractive. Gabi Lechner emphasized: “Companies that meet sustainability criteria in the supply chain have better chances of receiving funding.”
The role of the supply chain was also addressed. Andreas Schaffhauser reminded the audience that sustainable action begins at the start of the value chain to avoid long-term risks.
The ICS was represented with its own stand and presented the project #REUSE2030. The focus: sustainable approaches for the circular economy and practical impulses for companies that want to actively contribute to the transformation.
