Post-event Report | ICS at the Styria-Slovenia Joint Committee in Celje

On January 10, 2024, the sixth conference of the Styria-Slovenia Joint Committee took place in Celje, bringing together high-ranking delegations from both regions. The chairs, Styrian Governor Christopher Drexler and Slovenia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Tanja Fajon, emphasized the positive neighborly relations and the objective of further strengthening cooperation between the countries in the future.

Special focus is placed on the further development of neighborly relations, which led to the initiative for a “House of Cooperation” in Graz. This house is intended to promote cultural, economic, and social activities and improve mutual understanding among the population on both sides of the border.

The ICS, together with the Styrian Business Promotion Agency (SFG), Styria Tourism and Investment Promotion (STG), and Department 9 of the Province of Styria, actively participated in Working Group III (Economy, Tourism, and Culture). There was a mutual agreement that the existing successful cooperation in the field of internationalization should be further strengthened. On the part of the ICS, plans include the organization of specific B2B events for Styrian and Slovenian companies, the intensification of cooperation within the framework of the New Alpe Adria Network (NAAN), and the possible organization of joint marketing activities, for example, in the field of logistics & transport.
