Inaugural visit of the Georgian Ambassador

At the beginning of May, we had the pleasure of welcoming H.E. Alexander Maisuradze, Ambassador of Georgia to Austria, to the Styrian Chamber of Commerce.

Together with Chamber Director Karl-Heinz Dernoscheg, ICS Managing Director Karl Hartleb, and Sandra Tanos, the visit provided an opportunity for an insightful and constructive exchange. The discussions focused in particular on the potential for further expanding economic relations between Styria and Georgia. The Ambassador showed great interest, especially in possible cooperation in the field of education. Furthermore, we took the opportunity to provide insights into Styrian foreign trade as well as the activities of the Styrian Chamber of Commerce (WKO Steiermark) and the ICS.

We would like to express our sincere thanks for the visit and the open, constructive dialogue.

Georgia at a glance

With around 3.7 million inhabitants on an area of 57,215 km² (excluding the occupied territories), Georgia is sparsely populated. About one-third of the population lives in the capital region around Tbilisi. The country’s most important export goods include beverages, ores, iron and steel, as well as fruit and other edible fruits. A large part of the exports goes to Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan.

In total, around 45 Austrian companies export goods and services to Georgia.
