May 27, 2026 was dedicated to innovation, future technologies, exciting insights, and international knowledge exchange: 14 innovation experts from AUSSENWIRTSCHAFT AUSTRIA, active in the most important future markets (including the USA, China, Japan, and India), returned to Graz after two years to complete a diverse program.
The event kicked off with an Innovation Round Table on the topic of wood at the ICS. Representatives from Wood Vision Lab GmbH, Weitzer Woodsolutions GmbH, Holzcluster Steiermark GmbH and Hohensinn Architektur ZT GmbH presented current developments, innovative solutions, and key future trends along the wood value chain.
We were honored to welcome a special guest, the Styrian Regional Minister Mr. Willibald Ehrenhöfer, who enriched the Innovation Round Table with his profound industry knowledge and strong practical focus.
Following this, the program led to JOANNEUM RESEARCH, one of Austria’s leading research organizations. During the on-site visit to the JOANNEUM RESEARCH DIGITAL institute, we gained exciting insights into the work of researchers dealing with sustainable, secure, and future-oriented solutions for society and the economy. Based on state-of-the-art information and communication technologies, innovative high-tech solutions for the challenges of our time are developed here.
At the Graz headquarters in Leonhardstraße, we also received a comprehensive overview of the organization’s diverse research activities and competencies through impressive, compact presentations from the individual institutes and business units.
The day concluded with a visit to the Styrian company KS ENGINEERS. As an internationally established provider of testing and engineering solutions for the automotive and mobility industry, the company provided interesting insights into its technologies, competencies, and international activities. The subsequent discussions offered space for in-depth professional exchange and new perspectives on current developments in the mobility sector.
A heartfelt thank you to all contributors, hosts, and participants for the open exchange, the exciting discussions, and the diverse insights!
It was a particular pleasure to welcome our colleagues from all over the world to Graz and to show them the diversity of the impressive Styrian research and innovation landscape!
