Event recap: Kick-off meeting of the international EU project TIGER

On September 26, 2024, the TIGER kick-off meeting – FosTering ehealth and social Innovations as Game-changers in sEnior and Remote care – took place in Graz.

As the project’s lead partner, ICS welcomed 26 representatives of all project partners from Austria, Slovenia, Italy, France, and Germany. The project partners include the Geriatric Health Centres (GGZ) of the City of Graz, Human.technology Styria (HTS), Innovation and Business Incubator Nuremberg-Fürth-Erlangen, OTH – Technical University of Applied Sciences, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Nice Côte d’Azur, Association EUROBIOMED, Upper Adriatic Technology Park, Ca‘ Foscari University of Venice, Technology Park Ljubljana and the IZRIIS Institute for Research, Training and Consulting in Public Health & Digital Health.

During the meeting, not only were the first steps for developing international solution approaches for improved elderly and remote care discussed, but the Haus Esther was also visited to gain practical insights into new innovative products and services.

With a project volume of just under €2.7 million and a duration of 3 years, the project’s objective is to enable Styrian companies to access international knowledge and specialised innovation services. These new impulses are intended to drive the development of products and services in elderly and remote care, which are urgently needed due to the growing shortage of skilled workers. Through targeted innovation services such as the “Living Lab”, where companies can test their products under realistic conditions, and expert assessments to evaluate market opportunities, Styrian SMEs receive valuable support in product development.

A key component of the project is also the development of an online platform that promotes exchange between experts, companies, and innovative offerings. This platform is to be operational by 2026 and will open up the Alpine region (Austria, Slovenia, Italy, France, and Germany) as an innovation space for the participating companies. SMEs that already have initial solutions in the field of remote care can receive valuable support through the project in developing suitable business models.

With the EU project TIGER, ICS is implementing another important measure to prepare domestic SMEs for the challenges of the future and to strengthen competitiveness in the global healthcare market.
