Wood & Renewables
Engineered Wood in Iran
Wood industry in Iran has developed significantly over the last few years, despite all difficulties of having raw material.
This industry provides 250000 jobs directly and about 1 million jobs indirectly.
The President of Wood Industry Association, believes that competition has forced the Iranian producers to provide good quality of engineered wood, due to easy import of Particle Board and other processed products.
Iran produces 2,6 million m3 of Particle Board, 2,8 m3 of MDF, and 430K tonnes pf paper annually. The only shortage in the market is paper.
If recycling processes could be established in the country, the shortage of paper production might be improved to a great extent.
Renewables in Iran: loads of potentials
The Iranian Government plans to produce 5% of electrical energy from renewables by 2020. Ministry of Energy says that the capacity of renewable energy production in the country is about 50000 Megawatts.
To involve the private sector more and more, 900 Megawatts of renewable projects have been assigned to private contractors, says SUNA (Iran Renewable Energy Organisation), of which 100 Megawatts will be finalized by March 2017.
SUNA expects that from March 2017, an additional 1000 Megawatts generating capacity will be added to the national grid and the overall renewable capacity should reach 500 Megawatts by March 2018.
Current renewable energy production in Iran is about 240 Megawatt, which compared to the new global capacity of 1849 Gigawatts in 2015, shows huge untouched potentials in Iran.
