The Styrian company’s vision of “staying connected with people” was the impetus for the innovation Hallotag, a multimedia sticker that can enhance gifts (whether vouchers or household appliances, tickets, etc.) with touching emotions. This makes people and products unforgettable by enriching their gifts, vouchers and products with personal, moving content such as videos, voice recordings, texts and images.

From the outset, it was very important to Walter Dulnigg, the owner and managing director, to rely on 100% Austrian value creation—from concept and development to graphic design and marketing, right through to production. Since its market launch in 2020, Hallotag has been available online in Austria, the UK, Germany and Denmark, and—with additional features—is also available for business partners.

The company, headquartered in Graz, aims to make Hallotag the global market leader in multimedia stickers. With a team of experienced engineers, graphic designers, social media experts and social institutions, and in close cooperation with Graz University of Technology, they are already working on future innovations.

Funding advisory services at ICS

As part of the advisory services provided by Marie Peinsith on the go-international internationalisation initiative—a funding programme of the Federal Ministry for Digital and Economic Affairs and the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber—the managing director was introduced to a wide range of ICS services that had previously been unknown to him. Of particular interest were the services of AUSSENWIRTSCHAFT AUSTRIA, the training programmes of the EU project EXPEDIRE, and the go-international funding programme.

In addition to advisory services in the areas mentioned above, the company was also supported with the submission and processing of funding applications. As a result, numerous applications were successfully submitted and approved, and milestones such as market entry, brand positioning and sales of Hallotag multimedia stickers in the United Kingdom and the Federal Republic of Germany were achieved.

Driving digitalisation forward

Through the advisory and funding services of ICS and WKO Styria, the company was able to significantly increase awareness of the Hallotag brand. Thanks to a strong online presence and advertising on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and Google, webshop orders were generated in new markets such as the United Kingdom and Germany.

With support from the Austrian Commercial Office in London, the website and webshop were tested and implemented to be market- and culture-appropriate, e.g. displaying prices in British pounds, launching the webshop in English, translation guidance, etc.

More about Hallotag

Relationships are a fundamental prerequisite for people to live successfully in society. Positive relationships bring joy, move us, make us laugh and create the feeling of being very close to someone. With its innovation, TreeChip aims to help people stay connected.

But what is giving really about? From the perspective of owner and managing director Walter Dulnigg, it is about bringing genuine joy to your loved ones, surprising them, touching them, making them laugh, being close to them—and thus remaining unforgettable.

How does HALLOTAG work?

Hallotag is a solution consisting of an NFC Hallotag sticker, the associated free Hallotag app, and a customer retention and new-customer acquisition programme. Using the app, the sticker can easily be filled contactlessly with touching videos, audio, images and text.

The person the sticker is intended for does NOT need to download or open an app. They simply hold the back of their phone over the sticker, and the personal, touching wishes and messages are displayed and played automatically.

In that moment, the gift or product becomes associated with the emotions of the video, images and voice recordings.

Who can use Hallotag?

Development followed the KISS principle (Keep It Simple, Stupid). No app needs to be opened to play the multimedia content, making it very easy to use for EVERY age group.

For business partners, Hallotag offers a wide range of additional product, marketing and service options.
